Cycled out there on the Trans Canada Trail/ The Great Trail from the University of Saskatchewan. Was a beautiful 1 hour long cycle. The park is beautiful and has some interesting sights. The rubbing stone was my favourite. Food was more expensive then I was expecting but was adequate for the price, location and ingredients.

It's a park that really wants to show you native heritage but comes up short in so many ways. Primarily by committing to indigenous presenters who do not know their own traditions and history. It ends up wanting to feel political rather than authentic. Very unfortunate. I really enjoyed the drummer/singer groups.

Kona the winter festival was fantastic! We enjoyed fiddling, jigging, hand drumming, and round dance. We missed the dog sledding, (and other outside activities) but the kids still enjoyed playing in the snow and on the bison statues and there were a few warming fires along the trails between activities. We finished the night with bison burgers on bannock at the restaurant. (Which were fabulous!) Be sure to check it out next year. It's sure to be even bigger and better.

I was in Saskatoon on business and our hosts arranged an evening at Wanuskewin for us. It is an impressive place with a lot of indiginous history. Your initial impression is one of peace, tranquility and a growing sense of relaxation. There are many first nations artifacts and impressive works of art. There is also a well-stocked gift shop. We had a chance to wander the grounds where trails wind through the nearby prairie and savannah.

This is one of my favorite places in the city. The restaurant is delicious, the gift shop has some lovely and unique items (I recommend the muskeg tea), the galleries have a great mix of art and artefacts, and the trails in the park are a crown jewel for Saskatoon. You can see herons, beavers, and soon bison. I hope you make time to visit.
